Mind-mapping is the visual technique most often used/quoted. Try to use colour and shape to make your map more memorable. Flowing lines are supposed to be easier to remember than straight ones, and ideas shouldn’t be in boxes, as this is restrictive and blocks creativity.
Another possibility is to in effect make a giant mind map using post-it notes or index cards with key words or ideas on, then arranging these on a desk, bed or the floor to try to see connections between them.
Spaced and colourful notes are a must for visual learners - blocks of text are not helpful for you at all. Try coming up with mnemonic devices to help you remember facts, theories or framework terms.
